I came here after a search because fileproviderd now constantly eats 100–130% CPU on my iMac M1 after the 14.6.1 update.
Seeing that the solution to this kind of problem was simple by just typing fileproviderctl domain list in Terminal to isolate the faulty service, but that Apple ditched the command… Shame on Apple!

2024: still the same! What the heck is going on?
Incredible. The bug is still there in the official iOS 15.5 release! I used NFC tags as HomeKit shortcuts, none of them work anymore :(
I advise everyone here to fill a bug report with Apple's Feedback Assistant:

(iOS → CoreNFC API)
If only one or two people fill a bug report, nothing will change before many iOS releases. We need to work as a team here and act in group in order for Apple to react quickly.
And if you're a registered developper, please fill a bug report using Apple's Radar system too.
