I'm also having a similar problem, I use OpenVPN Connect, I'm using Big Sur version 12.3.1, (Macbook Air M1) and it just doesn't work.
I always have the log below.
EVENT: WAIT ⏎[May 6, 2022, 08:42:48] UnixCommandAgent: transmitting bypass route to /var/run/agent_ovpnconnect.sock
⏎[May 6, 2022, 08:42:48] Transport Error: socket_protect error (UDP)
⏎[May 6, 2022, 08:42:48] Client terminated, restarting in 2000 ms...
I'm pretty sure the problem is in the Big Sur version, because the same .ovpn file works on my iPhone or Windows desktop.
