I have a Kensington TB dock (dual monitors) which had been working fine, no new hardware or software aside from maybe MacOS (Big Sur) updates. It suddenly started experiencing kernel panics on my 2019 16" MPB when I was not using it (never when I was). This would happen multiple times a day if I rebooted and then ;eft it running. I had an almost exact duplicate setup at another location (same dock, same type cables connecting monitors) and it never had a kernel panic. I finally decided to try to debug the setup difference and found that if I swapped out the TB3 cable connected between the dock and the MBP 16" I now no longer have kernel panics.
