Well, it turns out to be an issue with SF Mono font. If I use any of the built-in themes, not just the console is broken but also the code editor.

I've created a 40gb partition and installation requested more 11gb, so I made it 52gb and it went ok.
So I guess that 51gb is the magic number you want.
