Hello everyone,
I wanted to provide an update on my experience with the Apple Developer Program enrollment process, specifically related to an issue I encountered with the name entry during the registration phase.
As part of the enrollment process, I was advised to enter an initial (e.g., "P") in the last name field to bypass the mandatory requirement. I followed this guidance, with the understanding that my name would be updated once I submitted my government ID for verification. After submitting my documents (Passport, Aadhaar, and PAN Card), I was informed by Apple’s support team that my last name was entered as a period (".") in the system, which does not reflect my legal name.
I reached out to support to request that the name field be corrected to accurately match the details on my official documents. I also suggested using a Zero Width Space, an invisible character, to temporarily address this issue. However, I was informed that Apple’s internal policy does not allow the last name field to remain blank nor use the invisible character I suggested, and the support representative assured me that my feedback would be passed on to the appropriate team.
The situation became more complex when I attempted to fill out the tax form and other related requirements. The name on these forms is auto-filled from the account information, which includes the incorrect last name. Since these forms must match exactly with my legal documents (such as the PAN card), I’m concerned that this inconsistency could create issues for tax reporting and global transactions.
To ensure compliance with legal requirements and to avoid potential complications, I’ve escalated the matter to Apple via email, referencing the case ID and outlining my concerns. I’ve also informed them that if this issue cannot be resolved promptly, I may need to consider further steps to protect my legal rights under consumer protection laws and constitutional rights.
I’ll continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as I receive more information. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has faced a similar issue or has advice on how to navigate this situation effectively.
I remain hopeful that Apple will address this matter in a timely and constructive way.
