Reply to No Airplay through Sonos speakers
They removed the option under Settings/Video and Audio/Default Audio Output. You cannot longer select it there. You have to holds the “Home” button on your AppleTV remote, the one that looks like a TV, and then an on screen menu will appear, on the bottom left you can select your speaker. But every time you turn on your device it will revert back to Tv speakers, you need to do it again. Apple and the community here don’t acknowledge it is a problem, so the only thing we can do is to leave feedback on Apple site.

Some people have reported this, but the Default Audio Output should still be there! And it is for most people. In fact, if you’re using Homepods, you should be able to select them form there without a problem, that’s the only speaker supported right now. You need to have all your devices updated to the latest versions, and then use your iPhone Home app to set it up, if the AppleTV doesn’t let you. The workaround is with your remote, not there AppleTV logo. In your Apple TV remote just hold the “Home” button, the one that looks like a TV. A menu will pop up on screen and in the bottom left you can select your speakers.

Reply to iOS/tvOS 14 Airplay - No audio
Yeah, there’s a workaround, but it’s not a solution. This is not an iPhone or iPad that sometimes you would like to use the external speaker, this is a multimedia device that should have constant audio output, and some of us shoes to use an external AirPlay speaker! Now we can’t! You have to send the audio every time you turn on your AppleTV or even after some minutes of inactivity! There should be a way to set this forever, like it used to be a week ago!

@Frolical This IS an Issue! Not being able to default speaker like before it’s a BIG problem! You need to do it manually every time you turn on the AppleTV. Before it was set automatically until you changed it, so you could use your speakers as TV speakers, which is the goal here. No you can’t! It worked about a week ago, but not anymore.
