Same issue on the 2020 11” iPad Pro
Solution (At least in my experience):
After the springboard has gone through its loop and you’re back at the Lock Screen shutdown the iPad. Then disconnect all accessories including Magic keyboard + Apple Pencil and reboot. Enter password and everything should work as per without erasing data or manually starting from scratch etc.
