Will Apple Inc. approve this? I would like to sell music within my app - InApp Purchases


Goal: Create a simple iOS app that allows users to purchase music (MP3 files) via in-app purchase mechanisms


Steps:

  • User goes to my iOS app
  • The user clicks on a simple button (UIButton) that allows them to download a song (MP3 format, etc.)
  • Once the user purchases the song, I - the developer - receive a share of the monetary compensation, ($$$), accordingly
  • The song plays directly within the app
  • When the app goes into the foreground, the song continues to play


Will Apple Inc. approve this app, or will it be declined?

You fail to connect these two dots:

  • The user clicks on a simple button (UIButton) that allows them to download a song (MP3 format, etc.)
  • Once the user purchases the song


Guideline 3.1.3 describes certain limitations on how you get the user to make the payment. Alternatively, 3.1.1 requires that you use IAP and get 70% of the revenues.
