When nightshift mode is enabled the computer does not respond to any input commands and the mouse/pointer turns into a permanent beach ball until I unplug my LG Ultrafine 5k, when I disable nightshift everything returns to normal.

Problem and solution also confirmed by myself
I've noticed that when enabling Night Shift on the internal display of my mid 2014 13" MacBook Pro, the system animations seem to become choppy while this is occuring, but the system does not freeze. I'd reccomend you file an issue report at bugreport.apple.com and include a sysdiagnose log.

I just ran into this with my LG UltraFine 4K display. Filed as rdar://30557997. Back to f.lux for now then...
My bug report has been closed and so far Beta 4 seems to be fine for me.
