A new feature of Xsan in El Capitan is support for a Mac to be a DLC client. This feature requires a SAN with a Quantum MDC and a DLC server.
A consequence of this change is that we now permit installing Xsan configuration profiles on computers without Fibre Channel connectivity. We also default to using a DLC server when mounting an Xsan volume on a computer without Fibre Channel.
