Problem with developer kit.

I just recieved the developer kit today, but when i plugged it in the power light was flashing rapidly and the screen displays a picture telling me to connect it to itunes and to go to support.apple.com/appletv/restore, but when I go there follow the directions for restoring it on iTunes, it says "Software for this Apple TV is not currently available. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes and try again." My version of iTunes is the latest (12.3.0.44) and I assume it can't find this because the developer kit is still in Beta. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The Apple TV dev kit doesn't come with tvOS on it. You need to download the latest beta from here https://developer.apple.com/tvos/download/

then follow the instructions on that page else I've put some instructions below.

Restore Instructions

  1. Download the latest beta https://developer.apple.com/tvos/download/
  2. Open itunes,
  3. Click the Apple TV tab,
  4. Hold down option then press the restore button.
  5. Navigate to the downloaded beta .ipsw file. (AppleTV5,3_9.0_13T5347l_Restore.ipsw, file name may vary)

This will restore the device to the latest beta.

Just a quick note, after you download the ipsw file from apple and unzip. You need to unplug the HDMI cable and the power cable, then plug the apple tv using the microusb cable to your mac and then power it on. If the HDMI cable is plugged in it will not work.

Hope this helps

It "may" not work. Mine worked with HDMI plugged in the first time.

You need to hold down OPTION key when clicking restore, just as iOSAaron writes - the message you are writing, indicates that you have ONLY clicked restore.
