Error 3014

Regardless of what device I try to update to iOS 9.0 or 9.1 - I end with an 3014 error.

My devices are all registered (for years actually) and I am using the latest iTunes.

Even in recovermode I end up with this error and I am out of ideas for now.

Any idea why I cant update, now restore, any iPhone or iPad to iOS 9 or 9.1?

Hi Helge,

If this is happening for all your devices then you may need to check for the network issues mentioned in Apple's own support page for the range of errors that 3014 falls into: https://support.apple.com/en-ie/HT201442

Alternatively you can try going one step further and put the iDevice into DFU mode:

  1. Attach the iDevice to the Computer
  2. Turn the iDevice off
  3. Hold power and home together for *exactly* 10 seconds
  4. Release power but keep holding home until the computer beeps as a USB device is recognized.
  5. At no point should the display come on. Now your restore should work.

Having problems? Try adjusting the 10 seconds to be slightly less like 9 seconds, then 8, then 7. It’s a tricky timing but you will eventually get it.

Max.

Sadly no. The console has this entries for each attempt:

Interesting that there seems to be a file in the ///tmp/ directory that couldn't be deleted, and the log "Can't stop watching device log we're not watching" made me grin, but I can't tell you where to go from here. I suggest you try another network though - You say you have multiple iDevices, which makes the network the common factor...

Different network didnt help either. Checked also the certificates since the log came up with TSL errors too, but also no.

Interestingly: trying as guest user worked.

Leaves the question, whats is wrong at sudden with the user on the machine.

I rebooted my iPhone, and it worked.
