10.11 GM won't download, 10.11.1 B2 won't install.

Pretty confused over here. I've been running the OS X Betas and currently have 10.11 Beta (15A279b).

Went to members centre and saw that they have OS X 10.11.1 beta 2. Downloaded the Update Seed Config and installed it successfully. Open Preferences - App Store expecting to see options there for turning on automatic downloads of Betas. But they are not there. Rebooted and checked. Still not there. Installed again. Still not there.

Opened App Store and it tells me there are no updates pending.

So have no idea how to get the latest Beta. Any suggestions?

Hi Drekka,

10.11.1 is an update (<2 GB), not a full installer (~6.5GB) and so it requires the correct base before it will be available. Beta 8, which is what you have isn't a suitable base - the GM candidate would have been okay, but now that the release version is out, you need to download the full installer from the App Store under the "Featured" tab. It will ask you:

"OS X v10.11 is already installed on this computer. Use the Updates page to install the 10.11 update or if you would like to download the full OS X installer click Continue."

  1. Click continue to download the full installer.
  2. It will appear in your Applications folder as an app.
  3. Run the app and confirm that you wish to install over the current El Capitan partition (which won't affect your user environment - you'll still have your user account, apps etc. intact, just as you have it now).

Once that is installed, you may have to reinstall the Update Seed Config and restart your Mac - then the 10.11.1 beta 1 will be available in Updates. After that is installed, 10.11.1 beta 2 will be available.

Does this serve to clarify the situation?
