v2 Weatherkit REST API documentation release date

Hi. The WWDC video of the v2 weatherkit api showed some examples for the REST API. However, they were very limited.

The documentation for the REST API is currently for the v1 weatherkit API. When will the documentation for the v2 API be released? There are some new features of the v2 that I would really like to use, but I can't without knowing the new v2 REST API specifications.

Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi sunsetlover,

So far there has been no announcement about the REST API. By policy, we can't comment about future announcements, which means that for now there's no guidance we can give you here.

Waiting on this as well.

Thanks for the response. The weatherkit WWDC video (https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2024/10067/) does announce the v2 weatherkit REST API. There are multiple segments providing the sample code & API responses, and they encourage us to try it out. The API itself is already public, as I am able to make requests to it similar to the sample shown in the video.

However, I don't know the syntax for things like historical data, as this wasn't explicitly discussed in the video. I'm pretty confident it exists in the API though.

Would you please be able to check with the weatherkit team to see when they plan to update the documentation (or if it's possible to know the syntax for historical data ranges)? It's critical that I have access to the new features ASAP. I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

Any updates, @DTS Engineer? Would be much appreciated!

An answer would be nice. As the OP said, the API is available and there is information from Apple on how to make (some) calls and encouraging developers to do so.

Is V2 ready for production use?
