Is the information returned for historical weather the actual weather conditions that were observed or is it just the historical forecast as it was predicted on the given date/time? It appears to be the forecast prediction and not the actual weather, but can someone please confirm?
Historical data from WeatherKit is built from historical weather models and informed / adjusted by actual observations from nearby weather stations where available. This allows WeatherKit to offer historical data for any location even when there are no nearby weather stations providing actual observations.
We believe this gives a more accurate view than a more naive approach used by other providers such as simply returning the readings from the closest weather station even if it is many kilometers away.
