My dog died recently and I put a Live Photo on my Lock Screen which really helped me as I could see him move and this really helped me. I downloaded IOS 16 and this no longer works. Please reinstate Live Photos on the Lock Screen!
No Live Photos in Lock Screen
I never really used the feature so I didn't notice its omission in the iOS 16 Beta. One of the first things my Dad noticed was that the live photo of our dog he has as the lock screen image no longer plays. I don't understand the need to kneecap certain features in favour of other ones. Surely there's a different way they could have thought up for changing your home screen. They added a whole lock screen customisation menu, why is there no "LIve" option like there used to be for "Perspective Zoom" circa iOS 9?
Also, with the new subject removal feature in "Photos" Live Photos have become much harder to watch. You need to specifically tap on a part of the photo that isn't the main subject. I'm starting to think Live Photos won't survive the next iOS update.
New grandparents here. Live Photos of the grandson on the lock screen were such a joy.
Apple please bring those back ASAP!
iPhones biggest winning feature was the user friendly interface and wide range of customization you got. I just switched from an 11 to a 14 but it doesn’t feel like an upgrade. I loved having a theme set and having a custom appearance. I’d rather be able to watch my lock screen change into a cute little video rather than be able to make my Lock Screen a random set of emojis and any point in time. Put that back into settings or make a widget option for it so that you can add to the Lock Screen.
