Ventura won't reboot past log-in screen

Installed Ventura on M1 Air and things OK. After one shutdown, it boots into the log-in screen but when I enter the password, the screen goes dark gray and all I can see is the cursor.

Go into Recovery mode.

-- "Select a user you know the password for." -- Select "Reinstall macOS 13 Beta" -- Select "Continue" Loading System information -- Agree to license information -- Select the Disk where you want to install macOS -- Select "Unlock" -- Enter password -- "macOS 13 Beta will reinstalled in the disk . . ." -- Select "continue" -- Error message: "Recovery is trying to change system settings. No administrator found."

Then tried to Choose Startup Disk: Get message "The disk is encrypted. It must be unlocked to determine if it is a valid startup disk. However, pressing the "Unlock . . . " button does nothing.

I'm stuck. Any help greatly appreciated.

I am encountering a similar problem with the Unlock not working but in my case I am booted into Recovery Mode and Using Restore from Time Machine, it shows my internal Drive (Macintosh HD) and I am trying to restore from the last local snapshot, but like you when I select my Disk and hit Unlock, nothing happens.

I am facing this same issue after installing it on my M1 MacBook Pro. However I am able to unlock the disk and proceed to reinstall macOS. When the installation begins, the estimated time keeps jumping from 2hr 57min to 6hr and so on. Hope there's a fix for this or workaround.

I am also facing the same issue. I tried logging into my MacBook M1 (Ventura) this morning and it wouldn't let me past the login screen. Also it won't show the question mark which would usually allow me to reset password, which I haven't changed btw. I then booted up into recovery mode and tried to reinstall Ventura but I get an error message in a pop up dialog that says "Recovery is trying to change system settings. No administrator account found". Completely baffled! Any ideas how to fix. Now I am effectively locked out of my macBook.
