Consider:

sef% mdfind 'kMDItemDisplayName =[c] "Zoom.us"'
sef%
sef% mdfind 'kMDItemDisplayName =[c] "zoom.us"'
sef%

vs

sef% mdfind 'kMDItemDisplayName == "zoom.us"'
/Applications/zoom.us.app

(Using '==' vs '=' doesn't seem to make a difference.)
