Merging tensorflow-macos and tensorflow-metal with main Tensorflow Repo

tensorflow-macos and tensorflow-metal have been incubating quite well for now. Are there plans to ever merge this with the main tensorflow repository at any point? Being able to get updates with the main tensorflow repository is a luxury we no longer have. Tensorflow 2.8.0 was released a few days ago, whereas tensorflow-macos is stuck on 2.70 and was released on December 2nd, 2021. Are there every any plans for this course of action?

Hi @AMangalampalli,

We have now released tensorflow-macos==2.8.0 feel free to try it out!

Unfortunately our release cycle is slightly inhibited by the pluggable device architecture that is used to allow the GPU acceleration on MacOS. It requires some time after the initial release from Tensorflow side to be able to test everything on our framework before we can release the corresponding tensorflow-macos version and this will likely remain the case in the near future. However we are working towards shrinking down the necessary delay between the main tensorflow release and our tensorflow-macos releases so hopefully this will become a less significant issue as we are going forwards.

So then at least could you build tensorflow-text-macos. I can't find a way to install tensorflow-text with current package.
