Critical Software Update Needed At Startup

Is there anyone who is experiencing a critical software update needed that won’t let you boot up your computer?

recently I updated to OS Monterey, but shortly after now I can’t even use my 2016 MacBook Pro w/touchbar.

As soon as I try to re-install my OS it will reboot to the black screen black and get an error.

If you are having a similar issue please comment below so we can let Apple now and get our problems fixed!!

I posted about it on Apple Support Twitter. Maybe if the legions of us with the ussue follow suit, they will take notice.

I am having the same problem. I erased my files, reinstalled macos Monterey but when I put on the macbook, it still asked for critical update and it asks to shut down.

Yes I have the same problem

Hi, same problem here.

However, I seem to have found a temporary solution.

My way is to keep clicking on “retry” until the system eventually starts up (it may take between 5 and 15 minutes usually). I know it is exasperating, but it is the only workaround I’ve managed to find.

I’ve tried any other method, such as reinstalling OS from the system itself and from Recovery partition, used Disk Utility to check disks, volumes and partitions, use third part apps to check volume structure and perform checks) and nothing seems to work.

I remember having this very same problem with the same laptop but once it eventually stopped happening (maybe after a major software update, but cannot tell for sure).
