Bypass battery on MacBook Pro 13 inch with retina

My battery has swollen and is messing up my display colors (both retina and external HDMI). Apple Support diagnosed it as the problem. Rather than replace the battery, I was hoping to disconnect the battery connector and run the machine directly on AC power for a few months till I replace for a new Mac. (I want to wait for the new Mac Pro computers with the Mx chip). Can anyone think of a reason that might not work. My hypothesis is that a discharged battery will "unswell" enough to fix my display problem.

Thank you for any hints.

Hi there,

You might have better luck asking this question over in Apple Support Communities run by Apple Support.

As a retired FireFighter, I strongly reccommend that you deal with your swollen battery as soon as possible!
It is a fire risk, and will continue to be a fire risk, whatever you do with it.
Please dispose of it in a safe way (e.g. take it to a specialised recycling center), as soon as possible.

No kidding. Safety first.

Once you have a laptop with no battery in it, then look at your options.
