suggestd hogging cpu - 100%

suggestd is running constantly using up CPU. It has 6hr CPU time today. How do you stop it. Why is it running so long. I'm using Monterey Beta 1.

I'm also having trouble where Mail is also running, claiming to be downloading 31000 emails but its been saying this for weeks.

  • I'm using M1 MacBook Air. I just installed beta 2 and suggestd is STILL running 100%. I had rebooted and it stopped for a while, but its back.

I don't have an answer but I see the same thing from suggestd. Arm M1 MacBook Pro if it makes a difference.

  • I hadn't mentioned in my original post, but I'm using an ARM M1 MacBook Air

Basically suggests the following to disable suggestd since its been broken for a while and may not get fixed. This seems to have worked for me. I don't see suggestd running any more.

  1. "cd ~/Desktop && touch Suggestions"
  2. "Get Info" → set "Locked" to on
  3. Delete ~/Library/Suggestions
  4. Drag Suggestions (the file) into ~/Library
