MacOS 12 Beta boot very slowly

Dear All,

I updated my MacBook Pro 16" several days ago. It works fine mostly, but booting is very slow. So, I tried something we usually did to solve this issue. And following is what I have tried.

  1. Reset MSC
  2. Reset NVRAM/PRAM
  3. Reset User Permission

But all of them didn't work, so I ran the Apple Diagnostic Tool and it said everything is fine on my Mac.

After that, I tried to run safe mode to find out which app slowdown my Mac, and the weirdest thing happened. I can't boot my Mac at safe mode at all. The screen just turns black and keeps showing the loading symbol.

Typically, we would have a computer that can't start up normally but works in safe mode. So we can figure out which app result in the system failure. But it is not in my case.

I appreciate your kind assistance.

Sincerely,

It backs to normal speed for booting after Beta 2.

I am also experiencing slow boot times, on a 2017 4k 21inch iMac, running MacOS 12 Beta 2. It can take up to 30 mins to get past the Apple logo, with the progress bar stuck at around 50%. Strange as Big Sur booted in less than 30 seconds so not sure what is causing the issue. The same as you, the diagnostics came back fine… How long did your Mac take to boot in the previous beta?

Booting was around 25 to 30 secs while Big Sur, and for macOS 12 Beta 1, it took around one and a half min. However, it backs to normal after Beta 2 without any further action. And so, I am sorry that I have no clue about how to help you. Maybe safe mode could help if you can boot in safe mode.
