Youtube casting and WiFiMan do not work when a local loop back VPN is turned ON

Hello,

On iOS devices, We are seeing an issue with YouTube casting when local loop back VPN is turned on.

Issue is that casting fails when attempted with VPN ON. and WiFiMan does not show local access points.

This local VPN is an extension of the Packet Tunnel Provider. We have tried adding permissions for local network access, using the Privacy -Local Network Usage Description and Bonjour services - with bonjour.tcp and lnp.tcp

Despite requesting these permissions and the user accepting the request, we continue to see the issue with Youtube casting and WifiMan.

Do we need some more permissions? Looking for help with this issue.

Thanks!

What do you mean by “local loop back VPN”?

Here our VPN is implemented using Apple's PacketProviderNetworkExtension.  As per this network extension, iOS ensures that traffic is first tunnelled through this local VPN and then packets are routed to original destination. Hope this answers your question.
