Big Sur panic when connect/disconnect usb-c dock

Big Sur panic when connect/disconnect usb-c dock (tested with many usb–c docks including baseus, ugreen, non apple – not reproduced with apple multiport adapter).

Problem persist! I have many panics every day!

Had this issue for the first time today.

  • Mac mini (M1, 2020)
  • Monterey 12.6
  • Display 1 - 21.5in, 1920x1080 via built in HDMI;
  • Display 2 - 27in, 1920x1080 via HDMI through USB-C dongle (my only option for a second display)

Same issue for me plugging a Dell monitor via Display port into Macbook 16" 2019:

2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB Ventura 13.2.1 (22D68)

Running latest Ventura so OSX doesn't seem to be solving the issue.

I can confirm this is also an issue now on the 27" 4k Dell S2722QC The docks built into this monitor are fully standardised docks, like the WD19, WD15 etc.

Totally compatible with HP, Dell, devices, even Android USB-C phones with display capabilities, however Apple, somehow have either a physical flaw in this series of MacBook or a major software driver error for the display / thunderbolt interface, yet it remains unpatchd.

This stuff is standardised. This is absoloutely an Apple fault, not a Dell / Thunderbolt fault. Heck my iPad Air 4 works on these docks.

The problem lasted several years, no one solved it. So many cables and monitors fails, it must be an Apple issue.

Macbook Pro 16' 2019 + Dell U2719DC, worked great together for 3 years. Now suddenly the laptop freezes and the screen flickers when the monitor is plugged in. Took me awhile to figure what's causing it as the monitor is always plugged in. Other devices work just fine with the monitor. Apple, please fix.

Same issue. Crashes 3 times every day when connecting to Caldigit dock.

2019 Macbook Pro 16 inches CPU intel i9 GPU AMD Radeon 32GB OS Sonoma 14.0

Hello, Has anyone found a fix on this matter ? I using the latest 14" MBP M3 Max and it's rebooting on it's own when I unplug thunderbolt drives or any device connect to a OWC Thunderbolt Pro hub.. Thanks
