Debugging M1 Mac mini kext via Firewire?

I've always used a firewire link - via Apple TB to Firewire adapter - to remote debug my drivers.

With Kernel Debugger 11.2, I can connect to the M1 mini from my MBP, but as soon as I try to start the task, the M1 kernel crashes.

Is this no longer supported on the M1?

What is the better way to remote debug an M1 kext?
