HomeKit broken / corrupt iCloud db

Hey folks,

I am unable to get HomeKit to work on any of my devices - when I start the Home app (on any platform), I see "Loading Accessories and Scenes" and then nothing happens. This screen never goes away.

Google tells me this is not uncommon and I have a couple of options:
  • Sign out of iCloud on all devices then sign back in, reboot etc.

  • Try enabling/disabling iCloud Keychain a couple of times.

  • Simply wait 20-30 mins and a "reset" option should appear

I have tried all of these (literally waiting hours for the last option) with no luck.

Further googling tells me that I likely have a corrupt iCloud HomeKit database and I need to either :

a) get Apple to reset my Account
or
b) Apple can send me a custom configuration profile that will enable the reset button in the Home app.

Can anyone from Apple help me here - or direct me to the appropriate support channel?

Can you remove your existing home here?

Home > Home > Home Settings > Remove Home

i would also reset all phones, access points routers, and go check for software updates. Log out of all iCloud accounts as well.

I recently had a similar issue nothing I tried worked. Only option was to **** the home and start again.


I don't have an existing home so can't remove anything - when I start the home app all I see is dialog mentioned above.

As also mentioned above, I have already tried logging out of iCloud on all devices.

I am up-to-date with software updates.

I am also experiencing the same issue since iOS 12.1. It is currently August 24, 2021 and I am on iOS 14.7.1 and my Mac is on 11.5.1. It is clearly an iCloud account issue. I was given the customer profile to for the Clear HomeKit data menu on device and it did not work. I am tired off waiting 30 minutes as suggested by support for logs.

We need more eyes on the issue. I want to purchase HomePods but I wouldn’t be able to set them up without a working Home app.

I don’t know why the HomeKit data can’t be purged from the database on Apple’s side.
