FBX to USDZ conversion--scaling issue

When I export an FBX from MAYA then bring it into Reality Converter to convert it to a USDZ, my model becomes gigantic: about 1000 times too big.

I do not know why this is happening but I would love for it not to.

I always check the scale of the model by opening a new Maya project and bringing it back in where it looks just fine, but in Reality Converter it is just massive.

Has anybody had this issue and if so I would love to know how you fixed it.

I am still in the process, but so far, I've found that if you worked on your model in mm it would be 1000 times too large. Either change the settings on MAYA to use meters, or prior to exporting from Reality Converter, you should click on Properties on the right top, and set the base units to Millimeters.
