Big Sur Reinstall - New Hard Disk - Steps to Properly Create APFS Disk, Partition, Volumes

Looking for some assistance in building a new HDD from scratch for Big Sur. Can someone point me to simple instructions for how to create containers, etc for both Big Sur OS and separate data, just like it comes from Apple?
  1. Do I remember correctly that the default factory HDD comes with two (2) volumes, one for OS, the other for data?

Or, does the installer take care of it as long as I have a partition?

Thanks for any support!

Came across MacWorld article that explains this and it looks like the DATA volume is created automatically along with the OS volume, so all is good.
