Should place network extension application in /Applications to run it?

Hi,

I am new to network applications.

Should place network extension application in /Applications to run it? or Is network extension application run from any where on the machine?

If your NE provider is a system extension, the container app must be placed in /Applications [1].

If your NE provider is an app extension, we strongly recommend that the container app be placed in /Applications although AFAIK it’s not an absolute requirement.

[1] You can use systemextensionsctl to relax this restrict during development.
Just in case, the container app does not need to be at the first level of /Applications, it can be in a sub-folder.
