Unable to Add Amex Sandbox Cards to Wallet

We are implementing Apple Pay on the Web. We are unable to add Amex test cards from the Sandbox from MacOS or iPhone wallet. We are attempting to add the Amex cards from (https://developer.apple.com/apple-pay/sandbox-testing/). Other card types (VISA, MC) can be added without issue. In Wallet & Apple Pay settings when I attempt to add the Amex card it shows "Authenticating..." near the device account number indefinitely, and it never gets activated properly.


I've tried restarting my computer and ensuring device region is in US. I'm running macOS 10.14.6 (and due to security can't upgrade the OS). Can you confirm whether the OS is cause of this or something else with Amex cards not being supported.


STEPS TO REPRODUCE

On Mac, go to System Preference > Wallet.


Try to add any of the Amex cards from Sandbox here:

https://developer.apple.com/apple-pay/sandbox-testing/


The card initially shows as added but when you look at device account number it says "Activating..." indefinitely and is never activated.

We believe the issue was caused by our macOS version not being the most up to date version. We successfully tested adding Amex cards to an iPhone 6 wallet with most recent software update. We are using macOS Mojave version 10.14.6. So iPhone 6 with up to date iOS can add Amex card, but Macbook with old macOS cannot add Amex cards. Suggest trying to update macOS or iOS software for those facing similar issue.

Thank you for reporting this issue. It sounds like you were able to get a test Amex card added for iOS 13, but not for macOS Mojave, is that correct?


On macOS Mojave are you signed in to iCloud with the sandbox user? If so, could you test creating a new user sandbox user and sign into iCloud with this new user on macOS. Do you see the same thing?

This still appears to be an issue with using the iPhone XS Max. All other test card types are added successfully within the Apple Wallet app with the exception of the AMEX card numbers provided on the ApplePay sandbox site https://developer.apple.com/apple-pay/sandbox-testing/

Also, I've upgraded the iPhone XS Max to the latest 14.1 version.

Please advise.

Change your country to US in your device SettingS, then you will be able to add an AMEX card to your wallet

Hello

I'm having the same issue. I can add MC, Visa and DS to the Sandbox, no issue. I tried to add ANY American Express and it will not add. It's trying to verify. I am using an IPhone XR. I'm running iOS 14.4. My region is in United States.

Any suggestions?

I'm also facing to the same issue. I'm not able to add MAEX credit card to apple pay sandbox wallet. Operation system: MAC OS Monterey 12.4 Device region is set to United States.
