Reply to Having issues authorizing payment for Apple Developer Program
Hi everyone! I'm happy to say that I FINALLY managed to enroll/purchase a Developer Account and submit my app for review to the App Store. I went through the same tiresome **** as most people in the comments, but I finally found a solution. The problem: I'm from India. I tried enrolling for the Developer Account and paying using my Indian credit card (through which I've bought iOS apps etc. in the past). It kept saying "payment is processing", but the card was never charged, payment didn't go through and I didn't receive any updates from Apple for 48 hours. I tried two other cards, but nope. I called Apple Support, and from that point on till almost two weeks later, I was in a constant email back-and-forth spree with them. I don't want to bore you guys with all the details, but this is basically what Apple Support suggested and why it wasn't feasible:1. Card/bank issue - nope, I checked with my bank, and I've used the same card for previous international/Apple purchases.2. Using a different card - I tried 3 cards of 3 different people and 3 different banks - all failed.3. Apple ID issue, use a different account - bad solution, I want everything under one Apple ID!4. Creating a new Apple ID - need to enable 2FA, for which we need to login to an Apple device, meaning signing out of that device and messing up iCloud, apps, photos, ugh - no way.5. Using someone else's account: clearly doesn't make sense either. The solution: so anyway, what seems to have finally worked was using a US-based credit card. Luckily, I had a friend residing in San Jose (very close to Apple headquarters) who was nice enough to lend me her credit card info. I used her US card and the payment finally went through. I received many more emails from Apple this time, notifying me about the payment being processed, card being charged etc. which I never received in my previous tries. I was asked to provide some government identification, which I did, and bam - it went through, I got a Developer Account, accessed App Store Connect, submitted my app for review and now it's under the review process.I know this isn't ideal or secure, but it worked for me and so far seems to be the best solution so far. Until this $1T tech behemoth acknowledges that their payment system is broken and realizes how important it is for developers to purchase an account to make some meaning out of their hard work, we don't have many options. Please click "This helped me" if my solution works for you, so that others can see it, purchase an account and get on with their lives. Thank you.
