it's 2024 and have the same exact issue with my iPadPro (2018) 12.9" (Cellular + WiFi) on iPadOS18 (clean vanilla config no Apple account, all default settings)
I, too, saw it show up in the Finder before I put it into DFU mode - now nothing on a 2020 MacBookPro (M1) or 2017 iMac (13.7.1)
Did either of you happen to figure this out?

Just built my 2nd iOS app in Xcode12b4 using this intro to SwiftUI tutorial - this is such a game changer over my 1st app in Xcode 10 years ago!

As a newbie to Swift, I actually found the Intro to SwiftUI WWDC2020 session - https://developer.apple.com/wwdc20/10119 quite insightful.
What was superhelpful is to just see the developer incrementally build the app and see it rendered in real-time in XCode!
