Same. Fresh out of box 2020 MB pro 13 — did initial Catalina update, too. Beta worked fine on previous MB pro 15 (mid 2017)

Immediate fix for me:
I had inadvertently enabled "FileVault" when setting up new 13" MBP. Disabled it and had no problem installing Big Sur after that.
