I had the problem, and thought it was in the mouse. But it wasn't. It was my "traditional" mouse pad. The Magic Mouse 2 rolls smoothly and needs compatible surfaces to glide on. After experimentation, I selected a Honkid aluminum mouse pad, available on Amazon for about $13. No more problem. If you Google "mouse pad for Magic Mouse" you will see discussions of the reasons and the kinds of surfaces needed.
