I have the same issue on a Macbook Pro M1 Pro 2021 16", 16Gb ram, Monterey 12.2.1 . I didn't notice the popping at the beginning but now it's happening everywhere when listening through the speakers.
I can't believe so many people have this issue and apple is doing nothing about it.
