below some additionally info on the trace:
task 20 does not belong to the same host of the timeout failure /
tasks 180 and 182 time out at minute 5.25 and 5.55 but the same endpoint completes correctly with task 184 at minute 6.25.

Hi eskimo, first of all thank you for all the info that you provide replying to questions. Here you are saying that it's possible to create a resource timeout with NSTimer, especially for the background session case. But I cannot understand why it's needed. Are you able to elaborate on that? I'm trying to fix a quite strange problem I have when the application enters background (see https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/696762?page=1#698926022).
