Reply to Big Sur panic when connect/disconnect usb-c dock
+1 on this 16" 2019 MBP 2.4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 32GB 5600M 8 GB System ramps fans for a second then reboots when plugging in any external monitor, via a dock or EGPU. Running Big Sur 11.4 (20F71) This only started happening after I tried booting hiveos.farm from an external USB stick, is this a zero-day / virus? Have done a clean install and restored from Time Machine, with the problem still persisting. panic(cpu 5 caller 0xffffff800c49f846): [kext.kalloc.2048]: element modified after free (off:1672, val:0xfffffffe00000000, sz:2048, ptr:0xffffff938453e800, prot:zero) 1672: 0xfffffffe00000000 Backtrace (CPU 5), Frame : Return Address 0xffffffa137a5aac0 : 0xffffff800bc8e0dd 0xffffffa137a5ab10 : 0xffffff800bdd4f33 0xffffffa137a5ab50 : 0xffffff800bdc552a 0xffffffa137a5aba0 : 0xffffff800bc32a2f 0xffffffa137a5abc0 : 0xffffff800bc8d8fd 0xffffffa137a5ace0 : 0xffffff800bc8dbf3 0xffffffa137a5ad50 : 0xffffff800c49d81a 0xffffffa137a5adc0 : 0xffffff800c49f846 0xffffffa137a5b240 : 0xffffff800bcecad6 0xffffffa137a5b2b0 : 0xffffff800bc9d6bc 0xffffffa137a5b300 : 0xffffff800c3ae4f2 0xffffffa137a5b320 : 0xffffff800ed5a41c 0xffffffa137a5b340 : 0xffffff800ed683fc 0xffffffa137a5b3a0 : 0xffffff800ed5ab6e 0xffffffa137a5b440 : 0xffffff800ed5b98c 0xffffffa137a5b5a0 : 0xffffff800ed50377 0xffffffa137a5b600 : 0xffffff800ed502ee 0xffffffa137a5b7d0 : 0xffffff800ed45934 0xffffffa137a5b800 : 0xffffff800ed44abc 0xffffffa137a5b860 : 0xffffff800c48149d 0xffffffa137a5b890 : 0xffffff800bf47aa2 0xffffffa137a5b950 : 0xffffff800bf2d5f8 0xffffffa137a5bba0 : 0xffffff800bf2dffa 0xffffffa137a5bf40 : 0xffffff800c33fc9e 0xffffffa137a5bfa0 : 0xffffff800bc331f6 Kernel Extensions in backtrace: com.apple.security.sandbox(300.0)[C7CC6439-6854-33FB-9E97-F468B75AD280]@0xffffff800ed49000->0xffffff800ed8efff dependency: com.apple.driver.AppleMobileFileIntegrity(1.0.5)[366C7BD4-9502-3D1C-ABBE-DE9749913D0C]@0xffffff800d2c0000->0xffffff800d2d5fff dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOStorageFamily(2.1)[A0D72FE9-649B-316A-8B5C-934E295FF0B5]@0xffffff800e86d000->0xffffff800e87efff dependency: com.apple.kext.AppleMatch(1.0.0d1)[759DEBDE-C844-3703-A01C-4DF5EEA8F4ED]@0xffffff800d2bc000->0xffffff800d2befff com.apple.security.quarantine(4.0)[C9640864-54C2-36A7-A737-F77E9F54159E]@0xffffff800ed40000->0xffffff800ed47fff dependency: com.apple.kext.AppleMatch(1.0.0d1)[759DEBDE-C844-3703-A01C-4DF5EEA8F4ED]@0xffffff800d2bc000->0xffffff800d2befff dependency: com.apple.security.sandbox(300.0)[C7CC6439-6854-33FB-9E97-F468B75AD280]@0xffffff800ed49000->0xffffff800ed8efff Process name corresponding to current thread: NotificationCenter Boot args: chunklist-security-epoch=0 -chunklist-no-rev2-dev Mac OS version: 20F71

Can confirm - have Radeon pro 5600M 8gb. It does it with Displayport and HDMI on my system. I'm guessing they'll not bother till MacOS Monterey - which has been my experience with EGPU and weird issues like this in the past when they're hard at work on a new OS. Not great - it's been going on for ages. Hardly what you'd expect when you pay the Apple premium for high end hardware
