I have this same issue when casting via airplay. The Now Playing screen is very buggy and will show the metadata, artwork and a frozen progress bar but never update again when the song track changes unless I toggle out of Now playing and back again. If I force a change of track, the meta data updates, but no cover art is shown and progress bar is still frozen.
