I'm working on a similar solution and had the same question. Can you please elaborate on why we should use NSURLSession? And does using it prevent the need for using "beginBackgroundTaskWithExpirationHandler"?

It started happening again to me and I also had to change it the version to iOS 15.0 the General = "Minimum Deployments" to work. See if that fixes it for you?
