Thanks for reporting this problem, I now understand why my apple-touch-icon was no longer taken into account. On iOS 15, the problem is still unsolved. I could however as a workaround specify a full href served with http for my apple-touch-icon while my web-app was served with self signed https so that service workers could work. Looks like I'll have to learn how to install a "trusted certificate" to serve a web app between my computer and my iPad.
