iOS14 Privacy - Does gathering IP count as coarse location data?
We have an App that doesn't use the device for location tracking in any way, however we do gather IP addresses as part of our analytics and use that to categorise usage data by country. I've read about the new App Privacy details that will soon appear on the App Store (when?). The list of data types we will need to declare includes 'Precise Location' (we certainly don't gather that) and also 'Coarse Location' which is defined as: "Information that describes the location of a user or device with lower resolution than a latitude and longitude with three or more decimal places, such as approximate location services" Does this mean that any app gathering the users IP will have to be tagged on the App Store as collecting the users location? This could deter some users from using those apps. We will of course be declaring that we use analytics to track user ids etc, but if possible I'd like to not give App Store users the impression that we are using their device to track their location when we don't.
