Flexibility...

Hello to all HomeKit-Lovers,

I am more than pleased with Apple's development of having disclosed access to homekit for hobby developers.

Everyone, who deals with the issue of house automation, has been waiting for such a wonderfully integrated system.

But to get to the real reason for my post:

If you ask me what is missing most in homekit, I would say:

• flexible service descriptions, (more) flexible assignable symbols and flexible units

(eg a pump with variable speed in rpm)

• universal data service and characteristic, for pure information

(flexible description, a flexible value and a flexible unit,

for example "current power consumption in kw")

• option to set a assignable notification tone

(eg a simple doorbell, with a assignable ringtone)

I think with these additional features you could cover every imaginable scenario, absolutely tailor made.

Are such changes / additions conceivable in the future?

example:

Room -> "car"

Device -> "VW CarNet-Bridge"

accessory -> "status" (pure information service, symbol "Info")

characteristic -> "Range in miles"

characteristic -> "mileage in miles"

characteristic -> "next service in xxxx miles"

characteristic -> "handbrake pushed / released"

accessory -> "climatisation"

characteristic -> "Thermostat"

characteristic -> "Window Heater on / off"

accessory -> "charger"

characteristic -> "Battery level in percent"

characteristic -> "charger connected yes / no"

characteristic -> "Loading in percent"

characteristic -> "Loading ends in *** hours"

.....

Many Thanks,
