AUv3 plugins using 'aumi' instead of 'aumu' don't pass review yet

We are in 2018 and there is still no official support it seems for pure MIDI AUv3 effects in iOS

It is reported by some developers that AUv3 MIDI plugins coded correctly as to 'aumu' spec but using the 'aumi' designator get rejected by the App store - even though they work.

Currently Garageband doesnt support 'aumi' so there is no way for any AUv3 host to currently tell a pure MIDI EFFECT from an AUv3 instrument that can receive and send MIDI.

When is this situation going to change ? This was first discussed in 2016.

There are so many bugs in the iOS audio unit implemention that are not being addressed it's almost like they just don't give a dam. I have serious issues reported on bug reporter for several months now, they've not even been looked at.

I think the lack of properly explained documentation and the poor quality of the sample code tells us what little priority this has for them. Maybe they think it's fun for developers to pour over example code hunting for clues, or perhaps they just don't want folks who won't put in the effort to do that to make audio units!
