EXIF data got lost when photos are uploaded via safari on iphone x

I am using a website to upload my cell phone pictures to a ecm system.

However, the exif was lost when I look at the uploaded pictures. I confirmed that the location service is working with the camera and if I use airdrop to transfer to my computer, the exif data will retain.

I borrow some iphone from my colleagues and get the following result.

Iphone 5s and 6s, IOS 10. Exif data will be stored.

Iphone 6s, IOS 9. Exif data will be stored.

Iphone 6s, IOS 11. Exif data will be stored.

Iphone 8 IOS 11. Exif data will not be stored.

Iphone X IOS11. Exif data will not be stored.

Can someone help me to figure out why? This is an urgent issue for one of the product that we are going to launch soon.

Are the photos in the iPhone 8 and X being originally saved as HEIF or JPEG? Does this change if you select “most compatible” in the camera > format in settings?

It was save a JPEG.

Actually if I choose most compatible, it worked on my iphone x! Let me check on other devices.

“High efficiency” works only in 7, 8, X and some newer iPads, that’s a common factor among failing devices. My guess is when set to HE the upload may be losing the exif data. Didn’t have a chance to test myself yet .

did it work?
