Can an accessory access another accessory's status using HAP?

Hi,

I'd like to build a Thermostat acessory that can read the current termperature values from Temperature Sensor accessories (all part of the same home using HomeKit, but within different devices). Is it possible for an accessory to access a controller's database to obtain current status values of other accessories? It seems that iOS apps can access all the data, but can accessories obtain data about each other outside of iOS? If so, how?
