Xcode 9: playground not rendering markup

XCODE 9

I am going through the Everyone Can Code iBook coding series. There are playgrounds that go along with the iBook. The playgrounds contain markup. The playgrounds are not rendering at launch even though render markup is selected under xcode/editor menu. To display correctly, it is necessary to revert to raw markup and the back to render markup. This has to be repeated for each page in the playgrounds.


I tried saving the playground with rendering corrected but still have to repeat the correction for each page. Thoughts on how to make a permanent correction?
