Why does storyboard crash or show the spinning circle more now?

TThe new Xcode seems to be slower and crash more on storyboards. Is anyone else seeing the same results?

it is so bad that I have to waist 90% of my time again. I can not even do any work because all I get is a spinning rainbow

I'm having exactly the same problem. IB works fine for a few minutes then all I get is the spinning wheel. Very very frustrating. I've updated XCode to the latest version, but no improvement. Currently using Version 9.1 (9B55).
