iMac 27" : OS X 10.13 GM candidate

First reboot after upgrade (not associated with the upgrade) and no other software changes, my iMac gets hung on the boot screen. The loading bar quickly gets 3/4 of the way across, then it creeps to full. I've tried three times booting normally, one time letting it hang there for about an hour.

I restarted my computer because I was having issues with iMessage not syncing with my iPhone 8.

A little research on it talked about something wrong potentially with FileVault, and I looked into upgrading to APFS. I have no options to do that on my boot drive. I've rebooted twice into CMD-R, and there still isn't an option to upgrade to APFS. In that mode, I've tried repairing the drive and reinstalling the OS.

I'm in pretty good shape to just gut it and start over, but I've read where someone tried that with no change. All of my data is either in my iCloud files, an external hard drive or a server.

Any thoughts on this?

I haven't tried any changes using terminal, but I'm open to any suggestions there too.
