AirPods Connectivity?

I Know tvOS 11 is supposed to add in easier method for connecting the audio output to airpods, but even now on the latest beta, i can’t figure it out. I go to audio output and it shows the living room Apple TV, along with our two other apple TVs, and then another living room one. the only way to get audio through my AirPods is to go to devices, Bluetooth, and physically connect to it. Is this a bug, or am i missing something?

If you double click the play button, what appears to be the future speaker selection pane appears (if you have airpods they appear in the list there). This seems to be a feature that is still in development as no selection is possible for me.
